Nightcrawler.

This was a quick in class assignment to create a simple box model mesh of Nightcrawler the character, using the references picks below, i spent under an hour on this as it was meant to show our skills of how fast we can build a basic mesh.

fish creature

For the fish creature i wanted to focus on giving it enough fish attributes as possible as it was based with a simple humanoid mesh so my focus was on giving it scales, gills and i wanted to make it look like it can survive on land and in water, i added scales onto the model fairly early on and then with a texture brush i used an image of scales to mdel on a scale texture on the flesh area, i then thought about adding some protection to the creature so i gave it a hard carapace to it, i wanted to se how i could get away with the creature having this shell so i thought the most fitting design would be the fact that it has a coral carapace which it uses as defence.

minotaur box model

This was the project tin which i was required to create a simple box Minotaur model which we had to create by following the tutorial, i think it came out quite well but when the detail was needed to be added i struggled at times to create the correct cuts in the material and some of my mesh suffered because i changed it slightly to what the tutorial was instructing me to do, all in all i still felt this model came out quite well and i was very happy with the end result.

surreal creature

After i had done the original surreal piece i wan't to create a figure version using the 3d modelling skills i had learnt over the last few months, so i began modelling on mudbox with the intention of creating a humanoid horror type creature, i wanted the mysterious appearance so after modelling the basic design, i painted over it, added some textures with 3d tools, then i edited it in photoshop to give it the feel i wanted.

figure basic box model start

This was a quick attempt at a simple mesh in box modelling to start a figure model.

figure mesh box model

For the figure model i used references picks of multiple angles of myself in order to create the most accurate mesh possible, at first i started with a simple box and worked my way up through extruding and pulling of vertexes and then eventually with the use of symmetry i created a fairly good mesh, eventually i wanted to add a texture and smooth the box model to make it more flesh like. i did end up trying to create a cat model with it and at a stage i couldn't get the right result so i did in in a different way.

This was the textured result when i used an alternate method for the mesh.
